You are kids that were shrunk and dropped off in a backyard. Grounded is similar to Smallworld, both games were announced around the same time. This is a relatively new game and in early access, but there is still. The gimmick is that you are a tiny fey type creature that came out of hiding after the "giants" disappeared. No collision so you can make some fancy things. But this game will let you place your building pieces in an absurd amount of direction. Workstations that are not covered will deteriorate over time. Smalland is a mix of Conan's and Valhiem's building. Dying late game is very punishing statwise. Occasionally when you are at your base, you will be attacked by an enemy type based on which bosses have been killed. This game also has structural integrity, you can build past the integrity but only the piece that exceeds the integrity will break. Valhiem has similar building to Conan, but with a bit more flexibility. This is also the game with the dong slider. It fills a bar, when full, you get attacked by a faction based on your location on the map and level you set the purge difficulty. The purge happens when you do things in game. Just like 7dtd the game is structural integrity, but all it does is prevent you from building past where the structural integrity is lower than zero. Glad to see someone else who knows about the REAL Fortnite.Ĭonan Exiles had some of the best building in my opinion. If you haven't played Days Gone, drop everything else you're doing and go there.

The port to PC was great as well, runs perfectly. If you want a game where the point is to survive hordes, Days Gone is a fucking masterpiece. Last recommendation, not for building but for zombies. No Man's Sky is very spacey but pretty fun building. That's a scary game but there's basically no killing, just building and surviving. If you haven't played Subnautica, you really should. Green Hell is survival and I know people like it, I just couldn't get into it. Not horror at all but the game Raft is a different take on building survival, lots of fun. They're still in the adding content phase. Sons of the Forest is still early release and I would recommend waiting until they finish it. Separately, someone else said The Forest. It's not like 7dtd really at all, but it scratches the same itch, in its own way. Build a base with power, then build a ship, build the right stuff to put on the ship, go up to space, whoops you forgot half a dozen things and you're dead. It's kind of a space game, but it's more focused on incrementally building capabilities. yet only 7d2d actually provides ai that is malicious enough to justify building big chunky fortifications in the first place. all of these games offer you up options for building fortifications to defend against malicious ai.

IE super slow to build, not much customization.Įven a game like valheim doesn't really pull it off since the random attacks on your base can best be described as pitiful this is despite an otherwise more interesting build system. Then you have games like the forest where you technically can build bases, but it is more about exploring the sim aspect of the base than building something to withstand a horde. but often the build system is more restrictive and how mobs interact with the walls is more structured. Then you have games like conan exiles and rust where the walls do have the hit points and in the case of conan have mobs that attack said walls.

but the voxels in those games do not have hit points and the mobs do not target said voxels with the intent to destroy them like they do in 7d2d. On the surface the voxel world suggest games like minecraft or vintage story. there kinda isnt any game that handles the base building part like 7d2d.
